Pauline family, we are so grateful for the abilities to worship and dive into scripture together even though we cannot physically meet. We created this worship guide for you to be able to follow along as we worship through songs and scripture. Use this guide with your friends and family as you lead in your home worship.

Before watching the online service together as a family, engage in the following activity/discussion. Our hope is that this will enhance your child's understanding of the message and provides a fun way to interact involving God's Word.

1) Take a well-known story (Bible Story, children's book etc) and have kids write, tell, or discuss the story from the perspective of someone other than the main character (For example, telling the story of Noah & the flood from the giraffe's perspective).

2) After, take time to discuss what it means to "sympathize" with someone. Be sure to point out that in order to sympathize with someone, it's important to try and understand what they're going through or put ourselves "in their shoes"

3) Today's message is entitled "Don't Give Up" and one of the verses Pastor James highlights in his message is Hebrews 4:15-16 "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need"

In Jesus, we have someone who understands EVERYTHING we go through in our lives. As a family, talk about how knowing this about Jesus helps us not to give up, especially in doing good.

4) During the message, have kids draw or write about times we should give up (doing good, when we mess up, when times are hard etc.)

Psalm 46:1-3

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Yes I Will

I count on one thing
The same God that never fails
Will not fail me now
You won't fail me now
In the waiting
The same God who's never late
Is working all things out
Is working all things out

Yes I will, lift You high in the lowest valley
Yes I will, bless Your name
Oh, yes I will, sing for joy when my heart is heavy
For all my days, oh yes I will

Verse 1

And I choose to praise

To glorify, to glorify

The Name of all names

That nothing can stand against (X4)

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on a Cross, my burdens gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

SERMON || Don't Give Up

RESPONSE -------------------------------------

Take some time after watching the service to discuss the following:

1) In what areas do you find yourself wanting to give up? What reasons cause you to want to give up?

2) Of those areas, which do you think God is leading you to persevere?

3) What scriptures shared in today's message spoke "loudest" to you? We'd encourage you to write the passage (or other passages that encourage you) on a card and post it somewhere as a visual reminder.

4) In addition to Jesus, consider your circle of family and friends, who can you confide in and find encouragement from when you want to give up? Consider sharing with this person.

You can give one of three ways during this time:
